However, politic365.com has forced me to take it up again since they keep deleting a post I've tried to make on their site. In reply to a post by Damion White at politic365, I say this:

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Period.

First, "Cuban exiles have for over three decades been talking to themselves, that is, in their native Cuban language. Yes, Cuban language, that form of Spanish which differentiates itself from all other Spanish cultures in its words, expressions, body language, emphasis, etc." (reference: cuban-exile.com). Herman Cain's query was NOT illegitimate. Not only is Cuban Spanish distinct from other Spanish dialects, Cuban Spanish isn't even the only non-English language spoken in Cuba (Haitian Creole, Corsican, Portuguese, Lucumi are just some of the other languages spoken by native Cubans)!

Second, cuban-exile.com isn't the only reference available online indicating the term "Cuban" can be applied colloquially and legitimately when speaking of the language spoken by some Cubans. Other examples:

- cubaabsolutely.com (discuses Cuban "vernacular")

- havana-unwrapped.com (notice they say "Cuban" words, not "Spanish" words, even if SOME of the words are Spanish)

- bumblehood.com (describes "Cuban words" - some are Cuban Spanish, some are not)

- mipais.cuba.cu (discussed the "Cuban language" and "Cuban vocabulary")

- cubanology.com (Identifies the "Cuban language" as being unique)

- transitionsabroad.com (A visitor to Cuba describing their experience: "I thought my Spanish would be fine in Camajuani, but it was no match for the dropped letters or slang of the CUBAN LANGUAGE.")

- cubanet.org (A story about Reinaldo Arenas that indicates "He spent three months,... with a Cuban language coach who also taught him to speak Spanish with a Cuban accent." - "Cuban language" used as a term distinct from "Spanish language," since Cubans speak Cuban Spanish with different intonations and include non-Spanish words)

There are many more examples online if you'd like to do your own research. Calling someone "dumb" who has several degrees, worked in IT, worked for the Navy as a mathematician in ballistics, worked at the Director level for several companies, worked at the CEO level for several major corporations and is a Pastor is truly insane when you are WRONG to boot. Note that I use the term "insane" to mean "wrong on so many levels," not "legally needs to be hospitalized to protect society." I'm not licensed to diagnose the latter.

He Lied

Yes, President Obama lied regarding health insurance coverage for illegal immigrants. Why is this news?

This situation illustrates why it's extremely unfortunate that we have a "Constitutional scholar" who is also a Marxist in the White House. He knows the law and he knows the loopholes. President Obama knows that "under his plan" illegal immigrants will be covered: Constitutionally, there will be no way to exclude coverage for illegals. In addition, if mandates require workers to carry insurance (either paid for by employers or the employees themselves), and employers will be fined if they don't provide coverage, then illegal immigrants will obtain coverage. President Obama needs to start telling the truth for a change. The lies and prevarications are wearing on the nerves of many clear thinking Americans.

Did the White House actually state that the number of private insurers will shrink as the exchange takes hold? That might make it hard to "keep the doctor we have and the insurance we have if we we're satisfied with them". I'm guessing we'll be able to keep our current coverage the same way illegal immigrants won't be covered. This can only take place in the heads of the Progressives who are trying to market their fantasies for the consumption of the general public.

A Sick Chick

Peggy Noonan really is loopy. I mean really. I don't even know how else to describe her meandering, overstuffed opinion pieces in the WSJ. Although I said I wouldn't read any of her columns again, the title of the latest one just drew me in: "Obama Dons the Presidential Cloak" . Then, the image clinched it , because I just had to see how an image of a "white" President Obama putting on a "black" Presidential cloak supported her position (look at the image and you'll see what I mean). Ms. Noonan is of the opinion that President Obama took command and materialized into The President during that speech. Ms. Noonan is about as grounded in her thinking as a hellium baloon. I fell asleep during the first 8 minutes of President Obama's speech. It was that predictable, stilted, and dishonest. When I awoke and forced myself to listen to the entire recording later that night, my opinion didn't change.

I don't know how Peggy Noonan continues to ignore the nonesense coming out of the mouth of President Obama without acknowledging that he is engaging in rhetoric as dishonest as that of a Marx, Lenin, Castro, or Chavez. Someday, someone will write a book chronicling the American economic and social decline of 2008-2009. I suspect Ms. Noonan will be quoted in that book. If we're all alive to read it, I'm betting she won't be happy, but those of us who are watching from "outside" the Washington/NY/LA bubble will be thrilled.

It Just Gets Better and Better

In light of the Chimp/NY Post blowup last week, the Washington Post is apologizing too. I know what it took to make that transition. Republicans loving me to death and never offending me didn’t do it, I can tell you that. Perhaps the NY Post should have thought a second time before publishing that cartoon, but without it there wouldn’t be blacks right now who are seriously wondering why on earth any African Americans choose to get upset over something like this when there’s so much going on in the world that we should really be concerned about. That’s the way black conservatives come to be: they’re forged, they don’t normally see open arms from conservatives and feel comfortable with the transition.

The taxpayers decrying President Obama's economic policies know that the policies being put into place right now are the product of a Democratic leadership (House/Senate/White House) that’s about as schizophrenic as a chimpanzee whacked out on Prozac, chocolate, and wine. The taxpayers who are protesting wouldn’t put it that way, because some people on the left would ignore the true message and focus on the “safest” interpretation (for them), but that’s the way it really is.

Whether or not the NY Post cartoon was insensitive or drawn out of veiled racism, the basic problem we have still exists: abominable legislation is not drawn up and signed by good legislators. It's pushed through by bad legislators who don't understand their roles in society.

I LOVED the Rick Santelli CNBC Chicago Tea Party video because it very clearly spoke to the laughable (if it weren’t so painful) nature of the economic policies of this administration. I only wish they were serious about holding one.

The Birth of FrankenStim

Even I didn’t think our Democratic leaders would stoop so low as to make aspects of their stimulus plan unsearchable until after it had been voted on.

The only thing that makes the creation and birth of this whole FrankenStim bill even remotely good is the knowledge that some supporters of President Obama and the Democrats have finally gotten a whiff of what conservatives have been saying all along:

http://www.tariqnelson.com/2009/02/this-is-terrible/

http://www.tariqnelson.com/2009/01/beginning-not-to-feel-this-stimulus-plan/

This is Why I Say the Left Has Gone Mad

Apparently, Bill Gates thought it was his right to subject an audience full of his constituents to a mosquito party. Not surprisingly, some of the truly overpaid morons sitting in the audience didn't even get up and walk out like they should have.

What does this have to do with "the left"? Well, it's an illustration of the attitude of those on the left who claim that "conservatives" want to control people's lives and attack people's liberties. People like Bill Gates have no problem with controlling people's lives and imposing upon their liberties if it serves THEIR purposes (Hmmm...wonder why Malaria is such a big problem when tools like DDT are banned and denigrated by "the left"). FoxNews reported that the U.S. economy shrank at the fastest rate in 27 years in the last three months of 2008. Well, I'm proud to take my credit for that. If you've cut back on spending and have pledged to save your pennies, then you should take credit too. President Obama and the Democrats just don't get it...the economy will not turn around until they disavow their stated goals to redistribute wealth and steal the hard-earned "wealth" of "the rich". Millions of Americans took offense to the greedy tone underlying the political rhetoric heard over the last 3-6 months and have pledged not to contribute to an economy that is so focused on taking money out of their pockets to line the pockets of others. Let's hope the President wakes up, realizes what's happened, and does an about face on his economic policies before he and the Democrats talk the nation into a true depresssion.

Let's Start 2009 Off Right, with Just a Little Truth

2008 was full of so many untruths (lies). I'd love to start the new year off on the right foot. Shedding a little light on some poorly reported and poorly understood political urban legends is my way of doing that. So, here's Part #1 of the Political Urban Legend Quiz (how many can you answer correctly without resorting to the cited sources?):

1. Blagojevich about who should replace him as an Illinois state Senator. He even expounded on that by saying that there were several names mentioned and Obama was fond of some of them. Now that Gov. B. has been arrested, he and Senator Obama say the conversations didn't take place. Something stinks to high heaven about this and the American people should really be outraged, but I'm guessing they're not. Either Axelrod or Obama are lying, or Axelrod routinely pretends that Obama is "working" or "negotiating" to get an issue resolved when Obama's doing nothing of the sort. Either way, there's a problem. So many Americans have decided to "give Obama a chance" and just refuse to even raise the question of why Axelrod made a statement that was clearly either a lie or a misrepresentaton of Obama's actions. As a citizen, I plan to do whatever it takes to limit my contribution to those journalists and news organizations, meaning minimizing my "purchases" of their products (magazines, newspapers, books, television shows, etc.) Here's My Blacklist:

Peggy Noonan
Oprah
Harry Smith
Tom Joyner
Tom Brokaw
Katie Couric
CBS News
Juan Williams
Colby King
Chris Mathews
MSNBC
Kathleen Parker
NBC News
Good Morning America
Gwen Ifil
The Washington Post
(I never really read the NY Times, but if I had they would be on this list).

I hear that the management at Fox News has directed their reporters and commentators to treat President-elect Obama with respect, as if telling the truth about a Presidential candidate is being disrespectful. Well, I've got news for Fox News management, if their organization goes the way of the organizations and journalists I've blacklisted, they will end up on the top of my list. Strange how Fox News' management is about to follow the same path that lost the Republican Party the election. Do people ever learn?

The Selling of the Presidency - How It Really Happened

For some time, I’ve thought that a lot of supporters of President-elect Obama actually didn’t believe he would try to implement his campaign promises as they were expressed by him. For me, it is the only explanation for why his supporters continued to support his health care plan when it became obvious that his plan could actually really hurt the very people he claimed it would help. I've likened this phenomenon to a car buyer going into a car dealership and coming out with the keys to a hoopdie because the car dealer pat him on the arm (like Senator Obama likes to do) and gave him a smile and a nod, indicating he could come back in three days and pick up the brand new BMW sitting on the showroom floor.

Americans have fallen for the oldest trick in the book. I'm sure most car salesmen know it well. Get a buyer hooked by presenting a pretty package and they'll walk off the lot with a car they won't really like in a year, and a payment that's way beyond their means. Senator Obama was sold to the American people like a BMW to a college intern. I just wish I could skip the temper tantrum to come when the American public finally realizes just how long they'll have to pay for this costly mistake.

The3ltrwd Strikes Again

Senator Biden is actually starting to worry me. Today, he called his sister a "girl-boy," apparently meaning a tomboy. As reported by Fox News, Senator Obama said:

"You know why I think Jill likes Claire McCaskill so well, Senator McCaskill? Jill is one of five sisters, Claire is one of three sisters. And I tell you what, you women raised with sisters are different than women raised with brothers"

"My sister is smart, runs every one of my campaigns; is beautiful; graduated with honors from college; is homecoming queen. But she's a ... she is what I call a 'girl-boy' growing up, you know what I mean?"

"And I tell you what? Girl-girls are tougher than girl-boys," he said. "But there's one important thing I noticed. The great thing about marrying into a family with five sisters, there's always one that loves you. 'Cause you can count on splitting them a bit. You know what I mean?"

OK, does Senator Biden drink? I certainly hope he doesn't drive. I'm not even sure he's speaking English.

"I shouldn't be going off like this, but -- hey, folks, 37 more hours, 37 more hours," he then said.

Thank goodness this election will be over soon...

It Was the Day Before the Election

And still citizens around the country have not been properly informed concerning the consequences of Senator Obama's health care plan. Whenever I speak with someone concerning his plan, and the fact that it will actually hurt the very people he claims it will help, I get a blank stare and silence. Last week I asked a Democrat about this phenomenon and he basically said he did not agree with my premise and he asked me for data to back up my position. Here's what I told him:

In 2007 one of the Presidential candidates stated that it was “Wrong when businesses have to layoff one employee because they can’t afford the health care of another”. The premise that employers have to make choices between health care coverage and laying off employees is a sound one. Senator Obama’s plan MANDATES that large and small employers either pay a “meaningful” portion of their employee’s health care coverage, or they will be heavily fined. Millions of employers who make the choice now to hire more employees, rather than pay for health care for fewer employees, won’t have that choice under Senator Obama’s health care plan. By the way, that quote is from a speech given by Senator Obama. HE understands the consequences of his health care plan.

In 2008, a human resources company called Mercer did a study of large and small employers (http://www.mercer.com/summary.htm?idContent=1325605). Forty-three percent of the employers who said they did not provide health insurance coverage said that they did not provide it because they could not afford it. That study was probably completed before the markets went south. If they couldn’t afford it earlier this year, what makes you think they will be able to afford it now, or in the near future? A PDF with details about the study can be viewed at: http://www.mercer.com/attachment.dyn?idContent=1325605&filePath=%2fattachments%2fEnglish%2fFigures_for_health_care_reform_release.pdf&fileType=DB&siteLanguage=100.

One company in Massachusetts has tried to deal with the downturn in their field, and they’ve ended up putting all of their employees on a part-time work-sharing plan (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=93581221). They’ve chosen this plan over laying off full-time workers completely, but how many companies are going to go through this trouble? A labor market economist in the article makes it clear: “If you still have to maintain benefits and so on, two half-time people are still more expensive than one full-time person”.

Layoffs and reduced payroll are definitely in the picture if Senator Obama’s health care plan is adopted.

You don’t have a problem with coverage for illegal immigrants? Well, Senator Obama does (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/21/us/politics/21demdebate-transcript.html?_r=4&oref=slogin&pagewanted=print&oref=slogin&oref=login&oref=login). Coverage for illegal immigrants in a plan that Senator Obama specifically stated would not cover illegal immigrants would be another example of him stating one thing, but doing another. And, if illegal immigrants are given coverage, not only would that encourage more illegal immigrants to enter the country, it will increase the possibility that health care rationing will ensue as millions of previously uncovered people begin to actively use our health care system for routine health care, instead of using it sporadically for emergencies.

Senator Obama's health care plan is not in the interest of American workers, but the American media has not seen fit to make this clear. In the Wall Street Journal today, Senator Obama wrote a piece outlining why he should be President. Unfortunately, he did not see fit to properly inform the American voter concerning how his plans would really impact them.

How Did Senator Obama Really Raise So Much Money?

Senator Obama has raised a record amount of money, primarily through online fundraising, but how did he really do it? For some time, I've suspected it was through donations by foreign nationals, who are not allowed to donate to Presidential candidates. Now, there's evidence. Boy is there evidence. As everyone knows by now, Senator Obama's "Aunti Zeituni" was in the U.S. illegally. While here illegally, she's donated to Senator Obama's campaign. Now that it's come out that she's here illegally, Senator Obama is going to give the money back. But, how many other foreign nationals have donated to Senator Obama's campaign. We won't know, because Senator Obama's campaign isn't keeping track. Shameful.

Governor Palin's Wardrobe - Another Top-notch Investigative Report from the "Media"

Governor Palin shopped at Saks!!! Oh the horror!

Well, not really. Just another non-story from a bunch of lazy journalists who decided to spend two seconds writing another nasty story about Senator Palin, instead of going out and earning their salaries by investigating something.

Senator Obama pledged to forgo public financing for his campaign and then broke his pledge to the tune of millions of dollars and not a peep was heard from the left. Now people are upset about $150,000 in new clothing for Governor Palin that will be donated to charity once the campaign is over. Amazing.

Senator Obama is a millionaire. Governor Palin is not. Senator Obama has earned millions more than most Americans ever will, but gives less to charity (percentage-wise) than many Americans who earn below the fabled $250,000 mark. Still no peep from the left. Governor Palin shops at Saks or Neiman Marcus and there's an outcry. What a double-standard, and from the very people who claim to represent the interests of the poor and middle-class in this country.

Senator Obama figured out that there are two buttons you can push that will get people to do just about anything you'd want them to do, including vote. Those two buttons are "greed" and "jealousy". Push those two buttons, and you can just about win an election.

Keep Your Opinions to Yourself! Why Anti-Obama Blacks Keep Quiet

What follows is a post from a brilliant woman who sees things so clearly - of course I'm not talking about myself! :-)
--
I usually avoid talking politics with anyone but close friends and family, but I tend to let my hair down with my hairdresser. Still, I’ve steered clear of sharing my anti-Obama sentiments with her out of fear that she’d be offended.

As I sat in her chair on a Saturday afternoon and opened the paper to reveal a photo from the previous night’s presidential debate, she asked how I felt about the debate. I practically whispered, “I hate to admit it but I can’t stand Barack Obama.” She looked at me and responded, “You and me too. I don’t like him either.” In that moment we breathed a sigh of relief and laughed out loud. We’d been hiding the truth from one another for months.

You see my hairdresser is a hard-working immigrant from Ethiopia. I mistakenly assumed that she’d be an Obama supporter. She assumed that as an African-American, I’d be too.

We talked quietly, sharing our misgivings and, even more importantly, talking about our disappointment with the blind following he’s garnered among African Americans. It’s virtually impossible for black folk to believe that one can be of African descent and not support him.

Now, I’d be the first to support a qualified African American candidate who shares my values and is willing to candidly discuss his positions. Unfortunately Barack Obama is not that candidate. The media has allowed him to breeze through the primaries and refuses to press him for clarity as to what he’d actually do as President of the United States.

I’m deeply concerned about Senator Obama’s lack of experience and inability to articulate clear and consistent positions on issues as important as national security and our financial future. What’s more, I’m personally insulted by the arrogance he betrays when confronted with questions about his ability to lead. I’m not convinced one iota by his slick double-talk and unless he can re-create himself over the next few weeks as genuine and plain speaking, he will not win my vote. John McCain has my vote today. Of course, a lot can happen in just a few weeks. Even more so given the turmoil we’ve seen these past few weeks.

This past week I attended a conference at the Ronald Reagan Convention Center in DC. I had thought twice about taking off my McCain bumper sticker before driving into Chocolate City, but thought better of it. Surely in the capitol of these United States I could ride around with whatever bumper sticker I wanted, right? Not so fast. My security check went fine, but when the guard came back around to the front of my car and I said, “ok?” he shook his head no with a serious look on his face and said, “I saw that bumper sticker on your car!” We laughed and I proceeded. A joke between a brother and sister, but it made me think twice.

If my hairdresser is any indication, there are many more of us out here than are willing to speak out which means election night results will be must see t.v.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://the3ltrwd.blogspot.com/2008/10/keep-your-opinions-to-yourself-why-anti.html' title='Keep Your Opinions to Yourself! Colin Powell had to endorse Senator Obama. He was for the Iraq war and was one of the key proponents of the war. Now, he's for Senator Obama. One of Senator Obama's primary positions has been his initial and continued opposition to the Iraqi War. Now, he's going to value the endorsement of one of it's key proponents? Colin Powell is saving face with this endorsement, but based on Senator Obama's stated opposition to the war and the thinking processes behind it, I'm not sure how the American people could possibly trust an Obama administration advised by Colin Powell. It's schizophrenic.

In the Bag

Man, Juan Williams really irks me on a pretty regular basis now. I don't know if I just never listened to him before, or if he's so in the bag for Senator Obama that he doesn't realize just how petty he sounds. Today, on Fox News Sunday, he actually said that talking about the issues raised by "Joe the Plumber" was "silly" since they only dealt with Joe the Plumber's aspirations!

Earth to Juan:

This nation was built on aspirations! It only grows based on people's aspirations. This whole election is about fulfilling people's aspirations.

Why is he dismissing this just because Senator Obama made a mistake when he made it clear that Joe the Plumber's aspirations will be adversely impacted by his policies? Oh, did I really have to ask?

Senator Obama's Other Health Care Mistake

Senator Obama's Health Care Plan has a second flaw; it all but guarantees that millions of illegal immigrants will be provided health insurance coverage under a system run by the federal government that is supposed to be for the benefit of American citizens. Senator Obama's plan will, for all practical purposes, provide an even greater incentive for people to enter this country illegally. What evidence is there that this is the case? Just think:

1) Large and small employers will be required to cover their employees (all employees) or pay a fine. That fine will be a substantial and punitive one, since the goal is to make employers comply and voluntarily provide health insurance coverage (Don't believe the "small employer" part of this statement? Just continue reading).

2) All children entering school or day care will be required to have health insurance coverage, which "may", according to the health insurance FAQ provided at http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/Obama08_HealthcareFAQ.pdf, be subject to verification.

3) Senator Obama categorically stated that his health plan does not cover "the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants" in the country (http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Barack_Obama_Immigration.htm), but given #1 and #2 above, how could that possibly be true unless he's planning to immediately deport all illegal immigrants or give them a waiver so that they do not have to comply with his plan's mandates?

I'm not quite sure Senator Obama knows how to be straightforward when it comes to convincing the American public to buy what he's trying to sell. Here's another example right out of the debates: Senator Obama said very vigorously during the debates that "small businesses" would be exempt from the employer health care mandates. Guess what, it will actually only be "Very small businesses and start-ups" who will be exempt. That may initially sound good to you, but what will it really mean? It will mean that employees of small businesses that do not provide insurance coverage for their employees will be subject to the same risks of loosing employment and stagnant wages due to this policy that employees in large business will face; perhaps even greater. So, millions of Americans who watched the debates and listened to Senator Obama reassure them that they would not be affected by the employer mandates and fines will get the shock of their lives when they realize that they will indeed have to deal with this issue.

I wonder when the realization will set in. Before or after November 4th?

Here we go again

Well, the debates are over and the opinion makers and "intellectuals" have spoken. Senator Obama has won the debates, and apparently has won the election.... Well, not so fast. They never asked me what I thought, and my opinion is just as important as that of Fred Barnes, Nina Easton, Peggy Noonan, Juan Williams, Susan Estrich, or Tom Joyner for that matter.

First, let’s get something out of the way up front: John McCain and his supporters are experiencing the Conservative equivalent of the “Black Tax”. Don’t know what the Black Tax is? When you’re black and growing up in America, you’re told “you must be twice as good as the white person next to you in order to succeed”. That’s the Black Tax. Unfortunately, John McCain did not realize he would have to pay attention to this lesson as well. According to the commentators, intellectuals, and Democrats of our day John McCain doesn’t measure up. That’s because they automatically deduct a 20% penalty because he’s a Republican. Then, they deduct a 10% penalty because he’s not Senator Obama, a 5% penalty because he’s over 60 and doesn’t speak eloquently, and a 5% penalty because he has the nerve to stand up and say that “spreading the wealth around” through income re-distribution is not what this country’s founders had in mind. Now that I think about it, perhaps John McCain recognizes he’s being “taxed” to death and that’s why he holds back when pointing out the VERY real flaws in Senator Obama’s policies.

If John McCain wasn’t being taxed to death, perhaps he would explain how Senator Obama’s Health Care Plan, which is central to his platform, has two major flaws. First, his plan runs the real risk of leading to higher unemployment rates within the very communities that can least afford them. If you haven’t realized it by now, Senator Obama’s Health Care Plan centers around forcing “large” employers to pay for their employees’ health care costs, or paying a “fine” (tax) that is based on a “percentage of payroll” to the federal government. If YOU were a large employer, and you didn’t want to pay for your employees’ health care, or didn’t want to pay for the level of service the government mandated, what would you do? REDUCE PAYROLL! Any way you could. How on earth is this acceptable to most Americans? I’d absolutely prefer a job with no health care, than no job at all.

Well, at this point I was going to point out the second flaw in Senator Obama’s Health Care Plan, but I, as a hard working American (who by the way does not make $250,000, but knows that her taxes will be raised in the next administration) must stop to work on items for my employer. By the way, this leads me to quickly explain the name of this blog (3ltrwd). Apparently, Senator Biden thinks that “jobs” is a three letter word. Amazing how receiving free passes all these years hasn’t led to any improvement in his speaking abilities. There’ll be no tax breaks here Senator Biden.
