The Selling of the Presidency - How It Really Happened

For some time, I’ve thought that a lot of supporters of President-elect Obama actually didn’t believe he would try to implement his campaign promises as they were expressed by him. For me, it is the only explanation for why his supporters continued to support his health care plan when it became obvious that his plan could actually really hurt the very people he claimed it would help. I've likened this phenomenon to a car buyer going into a car dealership and coming out with the keys to a hoopdie because the car dealer pat him on the arm (like Senator Obama likes to do) and gave him a smile and a nod, indicating he could come back in three days and pick up the brand new BMW sitting on the showroom floor.

Americans have fallen for the oldest trick in the book. I'm sure most car salesmen know it well. Get a buyer hooked by presenting a pretty package and they'll walk off the lot with a car they won't really like in a year, and a payment that's way beyond their means. Senator Obama was sold to the American people like a BMW to a college intern. I just wish I could skip the temper tantrum to come when the American public finally realizes just how long they'll have to pay for this costly mistake.
